What even is therapy?
Therapy is a space just for you — to talk, vent, reflect, and figure things out with someone who’s trained to help. It’s confidential, non-judgmental, and focused on supporting you through whatever you’re dealing with.
Do I need to be “really struggling” to start therapy?
Nope. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis. People come to therapy for stress, anxiety, relationship stuff, big life changes, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand themselves better. If something’s weighing on you, that’s reason enough.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you’d like help with, and what therapy might look like for you. You can ask questions, share as much or as little as you want, and get a feel for whether this feels like a good fit.
What if I’m nervous?
Totally normal. Almost everyone feels a little awkward or unsure at first. You don’t have to know what to say or where to start — that’s part of the process, and we’ll take it at your pace.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s okay! You don’t need a script or a perfectly clear goal. We can start wherever you are — what’s been on your mind lately, what’s stressing you out, or even just “I don’t know where to begin.”
How long does therapy last?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come for a short time to work on something specific, others stay longer for ongoing support. We’ll check in along the way and adjust as needed.
How often are sessions?
Most people start with weekly sessions, but some prefer biweekly or a different rhythm. We’ll figure out what works best for you.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy stays private, with a few legal exceptions (like safety concerns), which we’ll go over clearly. Your privacy is taken seriously.
Will you tell me what to do?
Therapy isn’t about being told what to do. It’s more about helping you understand yourself, explore options, and make choices that feel right for you. Sometimes I’ll offer tools or suggestions, but it’s always a collaborative process.
What if it doesn’t feel like a good fit?
That happens sometimes, and it’s okay. A good connection matters. You’re welcome to talk about it, and if needed, we can explore other options or referrals. Your comfort is important.
How do I get started?
Just reach out to schedule an initial session or consultation. From there, we’ll take it one step at a time.
